A Tale of Two Dogs

One is old; one is young. One is bursting with energy; one is content to lay in the sun. One can’t remember life outside a shelter; one has never been outside a home.

Both are looking for Forever.

We’re devoting this blog post to two dogs who are desperately looking for that special person or family who will look at them and say, “You’re the one. I want you.”

Let’s start with Frogger.

Frogger is only three or four years old, with a sweet, affectionate personality. Like so many pit bulls, he has a lot of energy, but he plays in the shelter’s Gentle and Dainty play group! He’s very patient with puppies and would prefer not to play rough. If the dogs around him get too wild, he walks away.

When we met Frogger, we thought he was a sweetheart of a dog, who just needs someone to love him, and give him lots of exercise and socialization. A familiar story, right?

This boy has been sitting and waiting for more than a year – yes, more than a full year – at the Burlington County Animal Shelter in Westampton, New Jersey.

Please contact them today and give Frogger a chance. Email Lisa Cliver, a shelter animal advocate, at lcliver@co.burlington.nj.us

And then there’s Cocoa

Cocoa’s had a hard time lately.

At 14 1/2, this chocolate Lab has found herself in a foster home because her pet parent died, and she had no place to go.

Cocoa is truly one of those sweet seniors who melts your heart because she asks for so little.

She likes curling up at your feet, or laying in a patch of sun, or ambling around a grassy yard. Severely arthritic in her hind end, Cocoa doesn’t particularly want to play. But she seems to enjoy the companionship of other dogs.

We fell for Cocoa from the word go – it’s hard not to! We knew we wanted to make her golden years as wonderful as we could.

Cocoa is content in her foster home, but we’d really love to see someone give her Forever.

We’re looking for someone who lives in a house with no steps to the outside, or possibly just one step, and who wouldn’t leave her alone for hours at a time. She won’t get destructive if you leave her; she just enjoys knowing people (or dogs) are around.

Please let us know if you’d like to meet Cocoa by emailing us at ContactUs@DogsHomePA.org
or fill out an adoption application to get the ball rolling!

Two dogs, as different as night and day. But in the end, they’re really not different at all.
